These Joinery Mallets are made from various hardwoods.
The head of large mallet is nominally about 150mm wide x 90mm deep and 62mm thick. Overall length is 325mm and it is quite heavy at about 0.80kg. The woods used in the construction will vary as the mallets will be decorative as well as highly practical. The first one for sale is made with a New Zealand Hard Oak core and handle with Purpleheart on the cheeks of the mallet. Ameican Black Walnut has been used for the wedges holding the handle in place.
Second mallet is now available, which is made from NZ Oak and Matai.
The standard size Joinery Mallet is slightly smaller at about 130mm wide x 75mm deep. Thickness will be about 60mm dependent on the woods used. Although slightly smaller the standard size mallet is about the same weight due to the use of steel weights (bb shot) in the head.
