Description

This English Elm End-grain chopping board is made from a locally grown (Canterbury New Zealand) tree that was cut down and milled into slabs about 15 years ago. The slabs have been stored undercover ever since it was cut down and milled.
The chopping board is approx 300mm square and about 55mm thick and is quite hefty at 2.60kgs. In order to make it easier to handle it has a 45deg chamfer on two sides along with four rubber feet. The feet are fastened on with stainless steel screws. The feet also ensure that it is kept off any wet surface.
As usual with my end-grain boards it was given two generous coats of food-safe mineral oil to season the board and then finished with two coats of the 100% food-safe mineral oil and beeswax mixture.
